Christmas comes early as Fraser hands out Basketball Awards!
The event was moved to the indoor facility following the heavy rains that washed out Friday’s original schedule, which was due to be held on the newly renovated court in the 3rd District.
Hon. Fraser had been instrumental in making sure that the project had gone according to plan and has now stepped up to be a sponsor along with Harney’s of the SCBBC 3rd District Inter District 13-15 Christmas League.
The Christmas League tipped off immediately after the Summer League Awards and featured a lop-sided match up between Cane Garden Bay and Threllfell Invaders.
Dominic Adams recorded the league’s first Double Double with 14 points and 19 rebounds as his CGB team won 65 – 32. Trevor Davis of the Invaders recorded the season’s 2nd Double of 14 points and 14 rebounds, but no other team mate recorded double figures.
For Cane Garden Bay, J'moi Liburd top scored with 16 points, 4 rebounds and 1 steal. Adams added 1 steal and 2 assists, Romain Minott 10 points, 2 rebounds, 3 steals, 3 blocks and D'moi Hodge 10 points, 2 steals, 2 assists
The other scorers for the Invaders were Chris-Andre Stevens with 7 points, 8 rebounds and a steal along with Shamoy Christopher with 7 points, 4 rebounds, 1 steal
On Monday night, December 12, 2011, action saw the Invaders fall to their second successive heavy defeat, this time at the hands of Road Town.
Summer League MVP Jachoy Walwyn fired his team into an unassailable position with 18 points in the 69 – 44 victory. Franklin Penn Junior added 17 and Shadine Rubaine 11 to complete the rout.
Stevens recorded the league’s 3rd Double with 11 points and 11 rebounds for the Invaders who also got an encouraging performance from Trevor Davis with 9 points, 2 rebounds, 3 steals, 1 assist and 2 blocks.
Game 2 saw Cane Garden Bay remain unbeaten with a thrilling 49 – 31 win against Parsons. Romain Minott led the way with 12 points, 4 rebounds, 3 steals,1 assist and a block, whilst both J'moi Liburd and Dominic Adams also scored 12 points.
For Parsons, Thomas Richardson netted 11 points and picked up a rebound and a steal, Nathan Rodney had 8 points and 8 rebounds.
