Cedar School to draw Car Raffle Winner on Friday October 14

ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – Cedar International School is pleased to announce that the grand raffle draw for the 2016 Fully Loaded Hyundai Tucson will take place at 7:00 P.M. on Friday, October 14, 2016 at Captain Mulligans, Nanny Cay.

The community is invited to come celebrate with the winner and to garner additional knowledge of the school’s VI Scholarship Fund. The aim of the raffle is to raise funds for the programme, which enables students to gain a world class International Baccalaureate education here in the Virgin Islands, regardless of the ability to pay.

“We are happy that we have reached this point and with just a few tickets remaining anyone can win this beautiful vehicle. The support from the community has been encouraging and we thank the many well-wishers, especially those who have purchased tickets. The funds raised make an enormous difference in the lives of the scholarship students and the whole school benefits from the diversity and talent they bring to Cedar,” said Scott Crawford, Director of Cedar International School.

To ensure the success of the raffle, Cedar has partnered with Tortola Auto Group (TAG), the Official Hyundai Dealer in the Virgin Islands. The company which has been in operation since last November is the most modern dealership and service center in the Territory, and believes that the raffle is a wonderful way to open up unique educational opportunities. 

The fully loaded 2016 Tucson is a work of art, providing class-leading rigidity with new active safety features, advanced high strength steel which ensures top security for a smoother ride. The All-new Tucson is a true leader in performance and fuel efficiency to delivering an exhilarating and fun-to-drive experience. With features such as panoramic sunroof, leather seats, LED daytime running lights, smart tailgate technology and much more, the winner of the raffle will truly enjoy Hyundai’s All-New 2016 Tucson offered by TAG.

The winner of the raffle will drive in comfort knowing that the All-New Tucson is backed by Hyundai’s exclusive 5-year factory warranty and access to TAG’s modern service facilities.

Cedar International School, a non-profit private school, currently awards $246,000 in scholarship funding, part of $750,000 in financial aid that is provided annually to increase access to Cedar’s programs for those families who are less able to afford tuition fees. The majority of the scholarship funding is raised from corporate donors and fund raising initiatives like the Grand Raffle. The rest is an unfunded discount provided by Cedar based on need.

The scholarship program has grown steadily since its inception in 2013. There are currently 18 scholarship students, and a further 50 receiving some financial aid. Overall this represents 27% of the student body at Cedar.

Raffle tickets cost $50 each and are available from Captain Mulligans, NAGICO Insurance, Tortola Auto Group (TAG), Cedar International School and Tortola Sports Club.

Just 1000 tickets were made available giving a 1/1000 chance of winning.
