ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – When he was initially arrested and interviewed by officers of the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) Ceason Hodge allegedly admitted to stealing his sister’s money, however today when he appeared in court he pleaded not guilty to the charge of theft.

The incident allegedly occurred on June 22, 2014 at the home where the two resided with others in Purcell Estate, Tortola.

The charge was read to Hodge by Magistrate Ayana Baptiste-DaBreo today September 26, 2014 at the John’s Hole Magistrate’s Court.

The allegations led by the prosecution indicated that the Virtual Complainant had $1,537.00 secured in a drawer in their home on June 8, 2014 the balance of in excess of $6,000 which she had received from the National Bank of the Virgin Islands. The other portion she had used to purchase a vehicle.

The stolen amount was put in a drawer in her bedroom along with two other cheques. She left the Territory and had returned on June 22, 2014 at which time the money was still in place. But it was after leaving the home on the same day and returning at about 10pm she discovered that the money and disappeared.

She allegedly searched the entire house and having not found the money she contacted the RVIPF and filed a report and had indicated that she suspected that it was her brother Ceason Hodge who had stolen it.

The Police went to the home the following day and noted that there was no forced entry to the house. On July 14, 2014 they met the accused and informed him about the report that was filed against him at which stage he denied the allegation.

He was then arrested on suspicion of theft and taken to the Road Town Police Station. It was while in custody that he cooperated with the Police as they did an audio and video interview during which time he admitted to stealing the cash. He was then formerly charged.

Hodge is 25 years old and the court heard that he was employed as a technician with Parts and Power. He was slapped with a $20,000 bail and is expected back in court on November 14. He told the court that he has no intention of hiring a lawyer to represent him in the trial.

That couldn't have been SORTED OUT at home?

Families, for fear of people know their business, often times suffer by trying to sort things out at home and sometimes some of these situations go on for years. Don't get me wrong, the first thing to do would be to resolve at home but if that does not work and the same thing keeps happening then, by all means, report to the Police.

When you know your own family, it is a waste of time trying to work it out at home. We put up with a lot of crap just because it is family and they make your life miserable. You can pick your friends but not your kin. She did the right thing and I bet she also knows he is a thief. Case closed!

Many people know this isnt the first time he has done this....how many chances are he allowed? Must the children she are working soo hard to feed go hungry because of his ignorance and bad habits???? In my opinion, you sound like the one thats behaving childish here....

Maybe the VC had similar problems from her brother in the past and choose to use external assistance to resolve the matter. Blood should not steal from blood.

for all of you all who says she is childish why don't you all give him back the money to pay her back. I personally know this girl and she the work hard to support her kids. So for him to be stealing from his sister he needs more than locking up.

There are a lot of people suffering from theft of close family and loved ones. It was because of my close relation to a supposed friend and their family that I didn't bother calling the cops when I found out the person stole from me and I have heard many stories there after of them continuing to target person close to them. These people are too advantageous. I sometimes wonder what if I didn't call the cops, would other persons would have suffered the same faith?

hes a good looking guy.. and this is family business not public news. they would sort it out in the future as families do. even though it means not speaking to each other again. it is a resolution. families steal from each other all the time... borrowing without paying back especially. its family...
