ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI - As the LIME Superfast Twenty/20 League continued on Sunday May 17, 2015 at Greenland Playfield, Cavaliers recorded a 112-run win over New Testament Church of God and Police beat Earl Tree Shotters.

The Cavaliers made steady progress in the early overs against the New Testament Church of God reaching 94-3 at the half way stage. Vishal Bharat smashed a quick fire 46 to provide the bulk of the early runs and then Mohammed Hasan and Kwesi Sinclair began to dominate.

During the 14th over, Hasan managed to get dropped twice and the 150 came up in the 15th with Sinclair catching up to Hasan in the race to reach a half century, which was duly won by Sinclair with back to back boundaries.

Hasan then reached his fifty in the same over with the same consecutive boundaries.

Hasan fell for 61, including 8 fours, 1 six, in the 18th, 200 came up in the 19th over with Sinclair smashing 20 runs, but was unable to reach his ton, finishing on 96 not out with 11 fours and 6 sixes, in the 20th as the cavaliers finished on 228 for 4.

McTair James was the pick of the Church bowlers with 2 for 39.

Christianand Dhanpaul knocked back the stumps of Kenroy Cain with the first ball of his first over and had Cameron Williams caught off the 5th to leave the NTCoG reply in tatters at 5-2.

Bharat also picked up a wicket in his first over to make it 12-3. Teddy Nankishore then joined the group to take a wicket in his first over, to make it 26-4.

Dhanpaul pulled off a remarkable caught and bowled dismissal to remove Earl Prescott.

Courtney Smiley then at least gave the crowd something to enjoy before falling for 36 in the 15th over, Travis Jack fell in the 16th over to make it 92-8, cornelious Alexander in the 17th with the score on 99, but the last pair batted out the overs as the church boys finished on 116.

Dhanpaul finished with 4 for 14 and Bharat 2-16.

The Cavaliers win leaves them now having to beat Grenada on Sunday to reach the semi finals.

“Overall I congratulate the team for rebounding well, we always play better when our backs are to the wall,” commented Bharat.

Police vs Earl Tree Shotters

In the day's other action, Earl Tree Shotters brought up their 100 in the 10th over having been asked to bat first by Police. Bryan Daley and Sessie Ells gradually rebuilding the innings after the loss of two quick wickets.

The partnership, worth a 100, was finally broken in the 12th over, when Daley was caught for 51, including five fours and 5 sixes. The 150 came in the 14th over, during which Ells fell for 53. His knock included 4 fours and 5 sixes.

The final target for the Police was set as 219 as Kevin Thompson (44) and Rudolph Davis (29 not out) finished with a flourish.

Despite Shem Stay having to retire hurt, Police tucked in nicely behind the asking rate and reached 80 before Kevin Joseph fell for 42 (6 fours and 2 sixes). The 100 arrived with Drumer Toney opening his broad shoulders to smash 19 off the 9th over.

Toney reached his half century with back to back boundaries in the 13th over and brought up the team’s 150 in the same over with a maximum.

25 came off the 14th over and Toney hit the first ball of the 15th for six, the second for four, the third for six and was bowled off the 4th, having brought the score up to 200 for his 87 which included 9 fours and 7 sixes.

His tally was enough to take him to the top of the runs standings and to be awarded a Nagico Green Cap.

Rayford Walker finished 45 not out with 3 fours and four sixes to guide Police over the finish line.

“We were always confident, that with our depth of batting, we could chase down the total,” noted Police Captain, Kevin Joseph.

Bryan Daley had the satisfaction of joining Rodney Marryshow atop the list of Most Wickets and also earned a Nagico Green CAP, finishing his four overs with 1 for 36.

    The team with the most Rasta man is under boys under the tree so I doubt that a Rasta man could stop them from beating the Indian this Sunday. Lol
