GREENLAND, Tortola, VI – Only one team can lift the 2014 Digicel Twenty/20 championship trophy and both the Cavaliers and Vikings are confident ahead of the finals which start at 1:00PM on Sunday, June 1, 2014 at Greenland.

Vikings are a perfect 5-0 this season, chasing their first domestic league title while four-time champions, Cavaliers will make their sixth straight finals appearance. The two teams are highly competitive, but Vikings took victory in the only game played between the two teams this year.

"Our team has been training hard and we are ready to go," said Vikings Captain, Richard Fredericks.

Fredericks knows that Cavaliers cannot be taken for granted, having lost the 2012 finals to Cavaliers. He believes that his 13-member team is united and capable of responding under pressure.

"We have played unbeaten this year and our guys are pumped up for the finals, but psychologically Cavaliers has the edge because they have done it four times. We were there in 2012 and on that day they had the edge. We believe they know what it means to be in the finals, but we just have to keep our focus and play our game," Fredericks stated.

He anticipates a good and fair game which fans will enjoy.

Captain of Cavaliers, Jagnarine 'Sugar' Persaud, said his team will relax and play sensible cricket and has done considerable work on fielding and bowling.

"We can't take Vikings lightly because they are unbeaten in the tournament thus far and they are a stronger team than they used to be before. Our batting is our strength and our bowling has developed a lot. I don't want to single out any of our players, but on any given day anyone can get going," Persaud stated.

He said Cavaliers is on a high and fans can expect a friendly game played in the spirit of cricket.

Digicel BVI Commercial and Operations Director Mr. Kevin C. Smith aka OJ, said while the game is played on the field, Digicel will ensure that there is fun off the field.

“After eleven weeks of competitive and exciting cricket, the Digicel TWENTY/20 Cricket final is set to be an exciting battle between two competitive teams. Digicel will be there with awards for players, prizes for fans and exclusive offers in true Digicel style,” Smith stated.

Following the game, there will be an awards presentation ceremony and this year, Digicel will award a player for his extraordinary performance throughout the tournament.
