GREENLAND, Tortola, VI - As the FLOW, SUPERFAST LTE 2020 Cricket Tournament headed down to the wire on Sunday March 26, 2017, the Cavaliers dealt the Vincy a devastating blow to their Premier League survival.

Winning the toss and asking the Cavaliers to bat first, the Vincy found Mohamed Hasan, promoted to opener a thorn in their ambitions, as he complied a steady 51 to hold the innings together and saw the unbeaten Cavaliers to a respectable 198-8.

Other useful contributions came from Dromar Toney (36) and Vishal Bharat (20), but at the half way point the Vincy should have been confidant of pulling off a victory that would ensure their survival in the top flight.

The best bowlers for the Vincy were Brent Defreitas and Earl Prescott, who both picked up 2 each.

The Vincy chase was soon derailed by Royston Huggins who ripped through the line up to claim 5-30, including the dangerous Steve Liburd for 31 and the Vincy are now staring relegation in the face for the second year in a row.

In 2016, though, they lost their final game, but scored just enough runs to move ahead of the Vikings in the standings, reached the play offs and ended up being Champions.

In 2017 they will face Grenada in the final match of the regular season on Sunday April 2, 2017 and will know that the winner stays up, the loser goes down and, depending on final net run rates, could reach the play offs again.

Sheldon John notched 31 on his return to the game and Neil Niles added a late 45 not out, but the final total of 161 gave the Cavaliers a 37-run victory.

Vikings brush aside BVI Academy

In Division One, a Sam Malpass century saw the Vikings post 288-5 against the BVI Academy, who in reply were dismissed for just 58.

On Sunday, the Island Stars will take on Under the Tree from 10 AM, with the pair jockeying for final play off positions and then the do or die encounter between Vincy and Grenada will start at 2:30 PM.
