ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – Former President of the Virgin Islands Party (VIP) Mr Carvin Malone expressed confidence ahead of the May 28, 2014 internal elections of the 43 year old political party, when he seeks to again take up the position he had vacated prior to the 2007 general elections.

Malone has confirmed that he will be contesting the post of President of the VIP. Former Permanent Secretary and media mogul Julian Willock has also confirmed being a candidate for the post of VIP President.

However when contacted by Virgin Islands News Online today May 22, 2014, Willock said that he was travelling and will speak with the news site at another time.

Willock also referred this news site to a statement released some days ago by a spokeswoman from his consultancy firm Advance Marketing and Professional Services which had said via an e-mail, “Mr. Willock has been approached by many delegates and party officials requesting and advocating that he contest the post of Virgin Islands Party President.

Mr. Willock is humbled and honoured that delegates and other VIP supporters have that confidence in him and thanked all for their steadfast encouragement and private pledges of support.”

Speaking with this news site today May 22, 2014, Malone said, “a vote for me is a vote for experience, commitment, proven leadership and party unity.”

“As President of the VIP I would champion the aims and principles of the VIP constitution and its bylaws and fully engage and utilize all principle organs of the VIP including the district and territorial committees, the youth, senior and women arms, the national advisory panels on economic pillars, on education, infrastructure, health etc.,” he said.

He said this will be done in keeping with the aims of the party according to its constitution and bylaws.

“We must continue to create the platforms where the voice of each of the constituents in each of the nine districts could have a platform through their voices could be heard, their vision or dreams carried forward to the executive body of the party and further carried forward to the VIP government that would then be forwarded to the House of Assembly so that they become policies. It is to create a medium through which voices could be heard,” he said.

“As President the task is to be a strong supportive advocate for the party but also to assist the VIP Congress, the Executive body and its full membership,” he said.

“As I mentioned before and as I will mention again, you have to be confident going into any election but you could take nothing for granted. I will always continue to run on my record and on my strength as opposed to somebody else’s perceived weakness,” he said.

Where are the VIP bloggers on this story? How come you all are so quiet? Air your dirty laundry. It is obvious that VIP bloggers only have things to say when there is an attack on the NDP.

Perhaps MW could spend more time in prayer and less time politicking.
