ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- Two major cruise lines-Carnival Cruise Line and Royal Caribbean- are slated for a comeback following a three-year pull following a move by the National Democratic Party (NDP) Government to sign preferential berthing agreements with Norwegian and Disney cruise lines.

This is according to Minister for Communications and Works Hon Mark H. Vanterpool (R4), who was at the time speaking on NDP Radio on ZBVI 780 AM on Monday April 3, 2017.

According to the Minister, the two cruise lines should be on the 2018/2019 cruise itinerary.

““We expect more ships to be coming in 2018. We expect Royal Caribbean to be back in that year, and the following year hopefully we will begin to see some Carnival ships coming back into the territory.”

$9M down, $73.9 M to be paid in 10 years for TPP

Meanwhile, Hon Vanterpool announced that some $9 million of the $82.9 million debt of the much touted Tortola Pier Park (TPP) has already been repaid, and is projecting that this debt will be settled within a ten-year span.

The TPP is just over 16 months old and has been the subject for much public bashing for the millions in overspending.

“We already pay down on our debt between interest and principle just about $9 million, and we continue to work that down. So, even under 10 years, we expect that debt will be paid down at the rate that we are going in terms of the number of passengers coming into the country.”

Ok Bring the cruisers Mark, but our town is funky and dirty and it smells. Fix that before you come looking for votes next election. We do not want any ham and turkey, we want a clean environment where we can let our children and grand children play and not subjected to the fumes of sewerage here, there and every darn where in OUR town.
