ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – It is only a week until the biggest boxing event ever staged in the territory takes place, courtesy of the Iron Fist Gym, at the Multi-Purpose Sports Complex in Road Town on Wednesday August 31, 2016.

The promoter Julian Brown aka ‘Mr Iron Fist’ will also be fighting on the night and has planned an action packed card featuring boxers from six other Caribbean countries as well locally based fighters.

“We have six countries coming in to take on the Iron Fist Gym Boxers, St Lucia, St Croix, Antigua, Jamaica, Anguilla and Dominica will all be sending boxers,” stated Iron Fist.

“In the heavyweight we have Kevin Chinnery, in the middleweight, Eric Massicot, Romario Morgan and myself and there will be also be fights at bantamweight and lightweight, so it is going to be a big event.”

Brown, who has the motto ‘a loser is a winner who quits’, is a professional boxer and has run the Iron Fist Gym in East End for four years. He purchased his own ring for the upcoming boxing event and also finds time to mentor misbehaving youths from the court system, working with the Social Development Department and puts on programmes with the Ministry of Education.

“We just keep growing,” he commented. “The after school programme at the Elmore Stout High School is very successful as boxing is all about discipline and self-control. No angry person can ever get into a ring and win; you have to be humble and learn to release aggression in the gym, so we are helping a lot of young people.”

World title/Olympic aspirations

Fight Night will be an amazing action packed night of not only boxing, but also entertainment promised by local bands and dancers.

“It’s $50 dollars for adults and $25 for children, but although it sounds a lot, it will be well worth it. You will get to see me, Iron Fist, take down my opponent by the second round. Once Iron Fist connects with a proper punch, you will go down. Not just that though, there will be so much to see and experience that everyone should come watch, support the local boxers and entertainers and learn a little more about what boxing is.”

Iron Fist has a long term plan to achieve a world title bout for himself, but is also looking at maybe getting some of the VI boxers qualified for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.

Julian Brown, aka Iron Fist, is a determined man, who means what he says, and will not settle for anything less than achieving his goals.

Meanwhile, tickets are on sale now with the first two hundred (200) to buy tickets to get discounts and will also be available at the Multi- Purpose Sports Complex next week.

Sounds expensive but I will support. Most of us spent more than this listening to nonsense for our so called Festival.

It's a fund raiser that benefits the youth boxing program. if you were asked outright to donate $50.00 to the program I am sure you wouldn't do it. Here you pay $50.00 and get to see the youths that he is helping in action along with other entertainment for the night. So shut up and stop be negative as it goes to a good cause !!!!
