Captain Musa shows who’s the boss @ Boat Racing at its Best
Engines got revving for the big races shortly after noon and saw Wendell Ronan seizing the first race of the day in his ‘Get Luck’ 16 ft Action Marine vessel.
In the 245 to 260 hp, 20-22 feet, class ‘The Bookie’ piloted by Kadeon Potter, managed to beat out, ‘#DABishop, Dark Knight, The Vator and All In’ to cop top honours in the second race of the day.
USVI Win
Carlyle ‘Bullet’ Morton, was the winner of the 26 ft and up Vhull Category, beating out Akeem R. Pickering’s ‘Sonic Racing.’
Jarell Rhymer’s ‘Wuk Time’ and Osworth Pole’s ‘Pure Dogs,’ were scheduled to race but this did not obtain.
Racers from the neighbouring United States Virgin Islands (USVI), did not walk away empty handed, with ‘Captain Donald’ racing away with the win, in 250 to 300 hp, 20-22 feet category.
The family-oriented event was hailed as a success with patrons and participants having a great time; “all boats had their helmets and other safety equipment, and there were hundreds of people that came to watch a BVI tradition from Boat Race.”
This is according to Club President, Dr Turnbull Jr, who in an invited comment, told this newsroom, “Drama Boat Club, thanks everyone that came, the boaters and the sponsors.”
The event was been made possible through the sponsorship of Opposition Leader the Honourable Andrew A. Fahie (R1) and the Virgin Islands (VI) Festival and Fairs Committee.
Other sponsors for the annual event—which forms part of the Virgin Islands 2018 Emancipation Celebrations—includes: 3J’s Trucking, Autland Heavy Equipment, AWS Trucking & Equipment, Bob’s Gas, Dynamic Cleaning & Consulting, Ferrol Car Rental, J Spot, Legacy Auto, Marine Power, Ministry for Education & Culture, Nova Vita Apparel & Print, Pro-Stock Marine, R.O.C. Marine, Stinky’s Barber Shop, Swift Hands Trucking, The Wellness Center, Triple “A” Trucking and WSI.
