Calicio Romney & Clyde Lloyd Jr. out on bail for rape
The two were not required to plead to the indictable charge or rape which the allegedly committed against a female on May 26, 2014.
According to the charge the two on the day in question had sexual intercourse with a female without her consent, knowing that she did not want to have sexual intercourse with them and did not care that she did not want to consent.
The court heard that two on the said night between 8:30pm and 9:30pm went to the home of the virtual compliant. The court heard that she joined the two in a rental vehicle as she had agreed to take a ride with them to Romney’s home as he allegedly claimed he was going to collect something.
Having left Romney’s Horse Path home the woman realized that the car had passed her gap and upon inquiring where they were taking her she was told by Romney that he was going to his uncle’s house to collect something.
The car was being driven by Lloyd Jr. at the time. They drove to a old house behind the court house where Romney got out went into the house and then returned to the car and asked the VC to go with him to the house as he wanted to show her something.
At first she refused but later agreed after Lloyd allegedly had said, “Man just pull that girl out the vehicle.”
Senior Crown Counsel Leslie Ann Faulkner who was relating the matter to the court said that as the VC approached the stairwell to the entrance of the house she realized that it was very dark but Romney led her into the house and into a room. Lloyd followed.
Faulkner explaining the circumstances said the two reportedly took turns in having sexual intercourse with the VC without her consent. A third person, male, was also implicated in entering the room but the details were not read out in open court as the accused was not present.
The men after committing the act left the VC in the room and went away in the rented car. She proceeded to contact a friend whom she told of her ordeal and then made a report at the Road Town Police Station.
Romney and Lloyd Jr. were taken into police custody and following investigations and interviews they were charged.
In their defense the court heard that Romney during a police interview had admitted to having sex with the VC on the said date but allegedly said that she had consented. He also said that he had gone to her home on a motorcycle and not a rental car.
Lloyd in his interview told the police that he had not seen the VC in months and objected to the allegations against him stating that on the night in question he was at his Horse Path home.
They are expected back in court on July 4, 2014.
