ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI - Motorists on Tortola will soon have upgraded directional road signs marking which routes to take around the island, a press release from the BVI Tourist Board (BVITB) stated.

As an important element to maintaining a stellar tourism product, the BVI Tourist Board has implemented signage to be erected in the vicinities of Belle Vue, Great Mountain, Meyers and Brewers Bay.

The signs will match the existing green and white signage throughout the territory, but will include reflective lettering to provide clearer visibility when driving at night.

Proper signage is beneficial to both residents and tourists to navigate their way to the islands many attractions, popular sites and remote destinations.

These signs were produced to replace the original signs that were damaged and/or vandalised between 2009 and 2011; and in an ongoing effort to keep the islands pristine and accessible, the Board will conduct maintenance review of any signage that may be needed on the sister islands including new directional signage to be placed on Anegada and Jost Van Dyke.

“I am pleased to see that these new signs have been completed and will continue to be installed around the island to aid drivers and passersby. The Tourist Board recognises the importance of building signage for our historical sites, landmarks and roadways, which in turn facilitates easier identification and travel for all,” said Hadassah Ward, Director of Tourism.
