ROAD TOWN, VI – New Chairman of the BVI Festival and Fairs Committee (BVIF&FC), Mr Carnel D. Clyne says despite the $300k debt hanging from the National Democratic Party (NDP), the Virgin Islands Party (VIP) government and his committee is looking to move forward, get things going and make all upcoming local festivals a success.

Mr Clyne, a former District 2 candidate under the VIP 2019 elections slate, uttered his plans during a telephone interview on the Thursday, April 11, 2019, edition of Hard Talk on Tola Radio VI, with hosts Julio S. Henry and Kareem K. Pickering aka ‘Picko Moff’.

Challenges

“Every organisation have their own challenges, but you have to come in with a plan ready to move forward from these challenges and how do you get that done?” Mr Clyne asked rhetorically.

“One of the ways to get that done, is us coming together… it can’t be the government only. There’s a lot of businesses around here to tap into first, to be able to make the festival a possibility and a huge success too as well,” he said.

According to host Mr Henry, it was noble of the newly elected Chairman to give credit to the previous team and to work with them instead of just changing things around.

“Just like them girls playing double dutch, the rope done skipping and you jump in,” Clyne said in referencing that he went into the job with a commitment to work with what was existing.

Moving Forward

Further, he said the Virgin Gorda (VG) Easter Festival is the first festival after the change of administration and as such, there would be challenges given new management and the cloud of debt.

“So right now, I am aggressively in contact with the business community, big businesses, small businesses to secure good sponsorship, so we can move the festival forward,” Mr Clyne said.

Wasn't he a member of the Committee who was responsible for this $300K debt? Does this mean they were all not responsible? If Yes, then who to blame?
