ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI - The BVI Cricket Association (BVICA) has announced it will be holding the Annual General Meeting at the Department of Youth Affairs and Sports Conference Room on Tuesday January 13, 2015, beginning at 6 p.m.

Current President, Mr Shan Mohamed, has intimated that he will not be seeking re-election at the AGM, which apart from the election of office bearers for the executive committee of the association, will focus on planning for the 2015 domestic cricket tournament.

Mr Shan Mohamed was re-elected President of the BVICA in 2013 and has come to the end of the first new two year cycle for elections. It is also understood that several others from the existing board will be standing down.

“All cricket clubs in the territory are asked to take note that only clubs that are financial members will be allowed to vote. Hence, all teams must pay their 2015 dues on or prior to the day of the AGM in order to be eligible,” a statement from the BVICA read.

Others who were elected to serve on the 2013 executive committee are Leighton Wright (Vice President), Joseph Alegre (Treasurer), Sachkia Barnes (Secretary), Gordon French (Public Relations Officer), Kyria Ali (Assistant Treasurer), Monique Selbonne (Assistant Secretary) and Simon Schilder and Bashir Hidar (Committee Members).

They don't vote for locals during the elections! But they want us to assist them to get money for them to represent us in tournaments. Yes, we can play cricket and better than most.
