BVI to debut against Guyana @ CBC C/ships this evening
It is the second consecutive year that the event is being staged in the territory and, according to Director of Play to Win Sports, Mrs Dawn Crabbe-Herbert, many lessons have been learnt from last year and improvements made.
“Everything will be better this year. There will always be hiccups, but we are looking forward to a better structure this year. Tickets will be more readily available and the box office opened from 10.00am Monday morning. As a special this year, not only has the pricing been dropped to only $10, but if you come as a group of 12, then you can buy a ticket for just $5.”
Schools have also been invited to attend the first two games for free as long as they are accompanied by a teacher.
According to Crabbe-Herbert, the week ahead will be very exciting, all the teams are here, the referees settled in.
An Opening Ceremony is scheduled for 6pm and then a historical moment will occur at 9pm when the BVI Women’s team will play Guyana. “We are very happy that the Federation has been able to make this happen and I commend Guy Malone for the effort. We are very proud to welcome them and obviously hope they play well and compete.”
The opening game currently underway is between St Vincent and the Grenadines and Antigua and Barbuda. USVI will then be facing Bahamas at 3.15pm.
