BVI Spring Regatta adding Performance Cruising Class in 2020
This year the event will be celebrating its 49th-year milestone in the Virgin Islands.
"Adding new classes allows us to welcome all boats. Regattas around the Caribbean and the world are making sure, as new classes arise, they are ready to include them in their events," Race Committee Chairman Robert Phillips remarked.
He said with the new class, it "allows the race boats with full interiors to sail with their racing inventories, including spinnakers, against like boats."
Sailing agenda
According to a press release, over 15 classes of boats will form part of the maritime event in the Territory.
On Tuesday, March 31, 2020, the Round Tortola Race for the Nanny Cay Cup will be held.
This will be followed by the Scrub Island Invitational on Wednesday, April 1, 2020.
Participants will be racing to the northern section of the islands, and a barbecue and live music will follow at the Scrub Island Resort and Marina.
After a night of partying, participants will relax on Thursday to get set for the upcoming competition scheduled for Friday, April 3 to Sunday April 5, 2020.
The event usually culminates with a major awards ceremony at Nanny Cay.
