ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – Last week BVI Cable TV customers finally had access to crystal clear, digital quality video and audio on the company’s new digital cable TV network. This multi-million dollar upgrade allows the company to expand its channel line-up by adding additional sports, lifestyle and children’s programming and serves as the precursor for additional advanced services like Pay-Per-View.

BVI Cable TV reminds its subscribers that effective December 24, 2012, everyone is required to switch to a Motorola digital box to continue receiving service. BVI Cable TV began the process of swapping customers’ analog boxes to digital converters and it is imperative that subscribers visit the primary Business Office at 27 Fishlock Road to exchange their analog box in order to continue viewing the exciting channel line-up.

To provide all customers the opportunity to gradually transition to the digital platform and to accommodate the change, BVI Cable TV will simulcast the analog channels until March 1, 2013.The 65-day swap period is essential for customers to be processed in an orderly fashion. During that transition period, the signal for most channels will be simulcast in both analog and digital to ensure that customers can continue to enjoy BVI Cable TV. Thereafter, the company will cease transmission of the analog channels and the Pioneer converters will no longer receive the signal.

In an effort to allow customers to swap converters at their convenience, BVI Cable TV has extended its hours. Effective December 31, 2012, the office will be open from 8:15 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and Saturday 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. It is important to note that weekdays from 4:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. and on Saturdays from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. the staff will only process exchanges from existing customers in an effort to further expedite the process.

Subscribers in the area listed below should come in during the week of December 31, 2012 to swap their analog cable box for a digital box. Customers must also bring their remote(s), coupon book and a valid ID. Those subscribers who have a shield on the cable box or those who are unable to remove their cable box should call the Customer Service Department at 494-3205 for further instructions.
