Buy Local, support young small business for Festival – Young Entrepreneurs
Time and again those who travel for shopping purposes say that businesses at home seek to exploit customers as their prices are in most cases over the top when comparisons are made even to the point of calculating travel and tax expenses.
Several young business entrepreneurs have taken those complaints into consideration and two who came forward to this news site indicating their passion for local service are the proprietor of Chic Trends Ms. Tekeisha K. Drew and SwagCrew Male Urban Clothes owned and managed by Ms Nicole A. Wheatley.
They are two young women supported by close loved ones and some sections of society, one focuses on female apparel and adornments while the other addresses the clothing needs of men.
“People don’t need to shop abroad because in the BVI there is a wide-range of stores that provide quality lines of clothing. I can vouch that much for the men’s clothing I sell, I keep my prices in reasonable reach, I provide quality. You can come here and be sure that you’ll get clothes that not everyone else has,” said Ms Wheatley.
For Ms Wheatley her motto is Male Urban Clothing with a difference, “So far my clientele loves the fact that they can go out there and feel comfortable in their clothing, not only that, my prices are so affordable when you look how I price my stuff it still comes up way less than if you had to clear and go through customs, shipping and handling, I think you can bring in good quality clothes an affordable price, you don’t have to over-charge customers,” she explained.
SwagCrew Male Urban Clothing opens on Wednesdays to Fridays from 3:30pm – 7:30pm and Saturdays 10am – 7:00pm and she has even made provisions for persons wishing to purchase outside the opening hours by calling or Whats App 284-340-0005. It’s located behind Klippers barber shop, botanic station.
Ms Drew on the other hand was hailed as the first young person to bring to fruition the initiative of a mobile boutique recognized by many as the ‘nice pink bus in the parking lot at Sunny Caribee’. She said that herself and partner Mr Danny F. Ferrol have been preparing for the 60th Festival season for quite some time as they see it as a very important time in the history of the Virgin Islands. “So we went out and did a lot of shopping of jewellery and clothing and one thing we made sure to do as always was to bring supplies of quality but yet reachable to the pocket of every category of our customer base.” said Ms Drew.
She said they have studied their various level of customer and have stocked accordingly, “We have the upcoming events like the Miss BVI and the others and we have a shipment of a variety shoes on the way to complement those clothes. The thing is we ensure that we do not exploit persons by putting up these high ridiculous prices for any of our items,” she further said.
Both entrepreneurs said that while they are in the business for a profit they ensure not to exploit to “get rich fast”. They said that they have been ensuring to give back to society in various ways.
