ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – Whilst many have put their feet up and enjoyed the summer festivities, local Sailor Sam Morrell has been busy sailing in fleet and team races on the North East Coast of the USA.

He began the summer season with a 9th place finish at the Buzzards Bay Regatta in New Bedford, Massachusetts. With just under 200 Club 420's competing, Morrell and his crew, Caroline Teare, posted a string of top 10 results to steal 9th place just ahead of the US Virgin Islands’ Teddy Nicolosi.

From fleet racing to team racing, Morrell's Men in Crocs team won the silver fleet at the CJ Buckley team racing event in Rhode Island, the US National Junior Team Racing Championship.

Sailing aboard the J88 Jazz as trimmer/tactician, Morrell finished 1st at the Sail Newport Regatta and 3rd at New York Race Week.

Meanwhile, back on the local front, the Royal British Virgin Islands Yacht Club will be hosting the 2016 Back to School Regatta, presented by Cedar International School.

Racing will take place on September 17 and 18, 2016. Entries are welcomed in Optimist Championship Fleet, Optimist Green Fleet, Laser, Laser Radial, Laser 4.7 and club 420.
