Businessman punched to face over 'no mask, no service' policy
The restaurant, which is located at the entrance of Nanny Cay, was only doing what is required for the establishment to not fall short of stipulations put in place by the Government of the Virgin Island (VI).
These stipulations are as part of the requirements for him to be able to operate and at the same time, play a role in ensuring persons are protected against any possibilities of contracting COVID-19.
Customer told to wear mask
According to reports reaching Virgin Islands News Online (VINO), sometime during the afternoon of May 27, 2020, a male customer visited the restaurant and was asked by the owner to put on his mask.
The customer allegedly refused, felt offended and started to rant and rage.
It is alleged that as the businessman insisted that it is a requirement for masks to be worn, the irate man went to his vehicle which was parked a short distance away and returning shortly after.
He then walked up to the owner and dealt him a vicious punch to the face before fleeing in the vehicle accompanied by another man.
It is unclear if the business owner suffered injuries, however, the business was outfitted with CCTV cameras.
Investigators at the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force are using the CCTV footage to hunt down the assailant.
