PASEA ESTATE, Tortola, VI – Information coming into Virgin Islands News Online (VINO) is that burglars have pounced on the Tortola Sports Club in Pasea Estate, Tortola in the Virgin Islands, carting off a small sum of cash.

The burglary is said to have occurred sometime between the evening of Thursday, May 21, 2020, into Friday morning.

According to sources, just before the 07:00 pm curfew on Thursday, the business premises was secured with a small amount of cash left in the till as well as the tipping jar totalling some $60.

It wasn’t until an employee reported for work the next day, that they noticed the club was ransacked with the burglars reportedly entering through a kitchen window.

Once these lousy low life scum find money, they will try to come back for more. All businesses should take all cash out when closing, even loose change. A burglar will take anything he can put in his pocket. Make sure your alarm system and cameras are running so you can catch the lousy bums. SMDH

... that would be a place where the owner mingles with the guests offering them shots, and then tries to charge the guests for the shots consumed by the owner and the guests!

THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS WHEN THERE IS NO GOVERNMENT STIMULUS.There are no jobs and people are hungry, just think is you had no savings and the last time you got paid was 9 weeks ago?

This happenes in the off season it is ony going to get worse and with that curfew will stay at 7pm which means the country cannot restart.

Why dont you do a pop up shop? Bake something or make something to sell? STOP looking handouts. Go Riteway or one mart and ask to pack bags until you get something.

we had crime in this territory long before covid 19: some persons on permits with no current gainfully employment should return home: one thing with some black people we love to blame everyone else for your demise: your child not doing well at school we blame the teacher: u working not saving money just spending like an ass now we blaming stimulus: the criminals must use the public roads while committing crimes and simply gets away with it

you are all so off base its funny, i have a business and the problem is people are bringing cutting tools to get safes out every place that takes cash, the place cannot start up unless the curfew time is removed and the longer they take to remove it the more people will feel the need to rob to feed not their habit but their family. Yes they should goout and get a job .......but wait there isn't any.

never heard of ANY criminal in the VI robbing to feed a hungry family! That’s insane. These pieces of dung do it because they are greedy and entitled and never grew up with consequences to their behaviour. You see it after every crime, so many people blaming everything under the sun except the criminal and the parents, school and community

Robbing the tip jar from the staff is low.

But why on earth are we still messing about with cash and cheques in 2020?! It is madness.

They really should! If they are indigent they should return home where they have rights to food and shelter. Andrew not sending people home but want help from UK plus the thousands that he gave rights to as guarantee for his reelection. UK not stupid .

So it is okay to steal from others? Because everyone has the same problem. Those tip monies will be missed by some others so I suppose they should they go rob another.

If u had no savings how are u to eat. Whose responsibility is your belly? Get some pride .
You pay no tax that would come close to this country affording a stimulus.
What stimulus? Is that a right.?

The thieves didn’t “pounce” - they broke in under the cover of darkness, like the desperate cowards they are. Let’s not use romantic and thrilling words to describe criminal acts. VINO please don’t encourage the lifestyle.

Its a headline, that's what the media does. They write juicy headlines and pounce is correctly used here. No one is expecting a burglary. They pounced.

...No, it’s not correctly used here. The criminals “BROKE IN”!

All these robberies taking place when people supposed to be indoors. What happened to curfew? Nobody seeing these people walking or driving around after curfew? The police needs to start patrolling the streets. And it’s about time we put CCT cameras on the streets. This is ridiculous.
