ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – Valissa Brathwaite reminded Volleyball fans across the Territory just what they had been missing as she returned to domestic action in the BVI Amateur Volleyball Association Power League at the Multi Purpose Complex on Saturday February 18, 2012.

Braithwaite led her team, Raw Power, with 15 points, 10 kills and 1 block in the straight sets victory over Phoenix Red. Sasha Gumbs scored 16 pts with 5 kills, 3 digs and 1 block. Ethlyn Lawrence added 11 pts and 5 kills.

Tyalia Nibbs had 9 pts., 4 digs, 4 aces and Jenell Scatliffe 8 pts, 3 kills and 1 block for Phoenix Red.

The weekend action had commenced though with Raw Power forfeiting to Phoenix Blue: 0-25, 0-25 & 0-25.

In the Men’s game that followed, the Terminators got back to winning ways upsetting the Future in straight sets: 25-17, 25-22 & 25-13 in just 52 minutes. Neville Brathwaite had 11 kills, 3 digs, and 1 ace. Nevin Brathwaite added 5 kills and 3 aces for the Terminators. Clyde Potter Jr. scored 8 kills and 4 digs for the Future.

On Saturday, Just Dream defeated Raw Power in straight sets in 54 minutes: 25-11, 25-16 & 30-28; Canice Marquis and Travis Jack for Just Dream 6 kills, 2 blocks; 4 kils 4 digs respectively: Leon Smith and Dion Vanterpool of Raw Power 5 kills, 11 digs and 5 kills and 2 digs respectively.

The Legends then defeated Phoenix Red in straight sets in 46 minutes: 25-16, 25-12, 25-21: Patty Romney 21 pts, Melissa Amey 5 kills, 3 blocks, 1 dig and Debbie Dagou 6 kills for Legends; Pasha Stoutt 5 kills, 1 block, 3 digs and Natasha Creese 4 kills for the Reds.

On Sunday, Phoenix Blue defeated Phoenix Black in 4 sets in 1 hr 22 minutes: 25-17, 25-16, 23-25, and 25-10: Celine Alphonso 16 pts. 5 kills, 9 aces; Lenin Peguro 16 pts, 3 aces and Yessica 18 pts, 7 kills, 6 aces and 1 dig for the Blue's: Ericca Frederick 14 pts, 6 digs, 2 aces, 2 kills and Marcia Stoutt 10 pts. 3 digs, 1 kill for Phoenix Black.

And the weekend concluded with the Terminators defeating Raw Power in straight sets: 25-11, 25-14, 26-24: Frandy Martin 9 kills, 6 aces, 3 digs and Denfield Solomon 7 kills 4 blocks for Terminators: Leon Smith 8 kills, 4 digs; Dion Vanterpool 4 kills, 6 digs and 1 block for Raw Power.

Attention turns to the highly anticipated debut of the B Division Teams on Saturday February 25 at 5 p.m. Elmore Stoutt High School vs Cedar International.

Prior to that, there will be Friday games: Just Dream vs. Future, Phoenix Red vs. Phoenix Blue and on Saturday the Future takes on Raw Power and Phoenix Black plays the Legends. On Sunday Phoenix Black are up against Raw Power, Phoenix Red plays Phoenix Blue and the Terminators face Just Dream.
