Bougainvillea Clinic successfully performs first kidney transplant

ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- The first successful kidney transplant has been performed in the Virgin Islands, with the private health facility, Bougainvillea Clinic, making medical history in the territory on Saturday, December 7, 2019.

The patients were Nikko Salmon, 28, who donated one of his kidneys to his father Neville Salmon, 54, who was having kidney problems for some time and on dialysis for the past three years.

Both patients are said to be recovering well and have been up and about shortly after surgery.

In was in October 2019 that Bougainvillea Clinic bagged another momentous medical procedure by curing the Wolf Parkinson White syndrome (WPW) or abnormal heart rhythm.

Meanwhile, the first time the procedure of Radioactive Seed Implantation (known as Brachytherapy) was done in the Virgin Islands (VI) was on January 6, 2017, at the Bougainvillea Clinic, when a team of doctors and supportive personnel led by Dr Dwayne Thwaites successfully carried out the procedure on three patients.

    This is excellent news. I never doubted the quality of work they can do. I appreciate their innovations and advancement.. Just the extremely high cost that's my concern..... With all the good work you do Doc. Reduce your cost get more Customers .. Its going to worth it. Win win for all.... I do like this News... Great Job.
