‘Both Fahie & Fraser are damaged goods’ – Donald E. de Castro

- urges the membership of the VIP to find someone else for the position of Chairman of the party

ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – Radio talk show host and social commentator Donald E. de Castro has labelled Chairman of the Virgin Islands Party (VIP) Honourable Julian Fraser RA (R3) and senior member of the VIP Honourable Andrew A. Fahie (R1) as “damaged goods” and said both should be sidestepped at the upcoming VIP elections on September 2, 2015.

Mr de Castro was speaking on his monthly show Straight Talk heard on ZBVI 780 AM last night August 12, 2015 during which he dealt with a number of topical issues.

“I see in the news that the VIP is going to have an election and that they will have the same two people apparently running for the position of Chairman,” said de Castro.

“I do hope that the members of the VIP will have the guts to elect a new Chairman, because both Fahie and Fraser are damaged goods. You don’t have to be in the House of Assembly to be Chairman of the party…if you want the National Democratic Party to stay in power forever then vote either of them in as Chairman. It won’t make any difference...they are both damaged goods,” he said.

He believes that if the party's constitution dictates that the Chairman must be someone who has been elected to the House of Assembly then it is time that the constitution is amended.

“They are both great gentlemen, I like them well, I admire them a lot but Chairman of the party or leader of the party is not for either of them,” he concluded.

It is still not clear whether Honourable Fraser will be seeking to be re-elected as the Chairman of the party again.

Following the scathing defeat of the VIP at the June 8, 2015 elections, some of the members of the party allegedly sought to have Honourable Fraser removed as Chairman, blaming him for the defeat.

They all started well then they went into the campaign backstabbing Fraser - that is why none of Fahie posse deserve to run again - the party needs a new set of leaders and candidates - only the VIP brand is keeping the show on the road

Why Donald don't go to hell. I am not a VIP but it is easy to critize Fahie and Fraser but both of them are competent leaders. People in the BVI always like to limit how far persons should go in life when those critising can do no better.

As far as I am concern there will never be no one good enough to lead the people of the BVI because anyone selected will either be so called damaged goods or not good enough to lead. Thank God everyone in the BVI don't have such small minds.

damage goods is putting it mildly: after so many years of good service to this territory these two clowns have placed the Virgin Islands Party in a very bad position: the VIP was the people's hope, the party that stood with the small man NOW simply because of the egos with in that party the whole thing mash-up

@well meh boy: NDP lost following their first year in office BUT the VIP lost after over 40-years; that is a more significant lost: VIP lost popularity with the voters and to lost by such a huge margin is a mash up: we did not know much about the NDP so we went right back to VIP 2007 that's why Smith lost that election

The VIP needs to stop airing their dirty laundry in public. They must regroup and move forward.Lots of baggage to throw out beginning with Carvin Malone. They need to think.Doc and Ronnie will most likely retire and not seek re -election.Nobody wants Pickering for premier.VIP must capitalize on this. Get OJ to head the party and reorganize.I am an NDP ,but I am trying to help the VIP out..Take my advice.

I was going to vote for VIP, a few of us were. But when Frazer and Fahie started going on the air attacking NDP with such venom and hatred, it took us aback and made us question how they would treat people once the got back in if things didn't go their way and that made us have second thoughts. People were already saying Fraser was the next Premier and that made us feel like something underhanded was going down and that was scary. I know politics is dirty, but when it makes you afraid to put hatred in power, it is the scariest feeling in the world. We didn't feel that kind of hatred when listening to NDP and this is what made us change our minds.
