Boat catches afire off Guana Island

TRELLIS BAY, Beef Island, VI- Two persons reportedly escaped serious injury after an outboard engine propelled boat they were in caught afire off Guana Island on December 16, 2012.

According to Virgin Islands News Online's sources, officials from the Virgin Islands Fire and Rescue received a call around 8:30 A.M. that a boat was on fire off Guana Island. Sources further said that fire fighters from the Beef Island station responded and were able to extinguish the blaze. 

It was also reported that the two men on board the boat named "Bloom" were rescued before fire fighters arrived by persons on board a boat from Guana Island.

The men were taken to Peebles Hospital but didn't appear to have suffered serious injury, sources said.

The burnt boat and engine are at Trellis Bay.
