SEA COWS BAY, Tortola, VI- The BVI Motor Sports Association (BMSA) made donations to the Ebenezer Thomas Primary School in Sea Cows Bay and the Alexandrina Maduro Primary School in Baughers Bay with a view to helping them offset some minor expenses.

A cheque in the amount of $100 was given to Mrs Sybil S. Hodge, the Principal of the Ebenezer Thomas Primary School, which she states will go towards the school library.

And a cheque in the same amount was given to Mrs Deserie Butler, Principal of the Alexandrina Maduro Primary School. Mrs Butler mentioned that the monies will be a great benefit to the 2016 graduating class.

The cheques were both handed over on May 30, 2016.

BMSA Public Relations Officer Keilah M. Varlack told our newsroom that it was important for the Association to make the donations to the schools.

“We have a keen interest in education as we all know it is the key to everyone's success. The children are in fact our future and we, BMSA, want to be a part of ensuring that they receive what they need in their educational journey. It is important for us to assist in any way that we can,” she said.

“As mentioned during our last donation, we are giving back to the schools that each member attended and also to those that we did not attend as our intention is to ensure that each school receives some sort of assistance,” she said.

Varlack also appealed for the public to support the Association's Father's Day luncheon with a view to raising money.

“We are also having our Father's Day luncheon on June 17, 2016 which is also another fundraiser that will generate more funds so that more donations will be given out to the other schools which have not yet received,” she said.

This news site has reported in the recent past that schools alleged not having basic supplies such as drinking water, toilet paper and stationery due to monies not forthcoming from Government. Some teachers have reportedly gone into their own pockets and purses to supply such needs.

Only last week, Delta Petroleum (Caribbean) Limited issued some 26 schools, both public and private, with a cheque for $500.
