DUFF’S BOTTOM, Tortola, VI- The Hon Julian Fraser Save the Seed League continues to make headlines off court, with the latest eyebrow raising announcement being that the Chairman and Commissioner have been relieved of their duties while the post of Assistant Commissioner has been made redundant.

According to a statement released to the media by the League Committee today, October 9, 2015, the Directors/Founders Hon Julian Fraser RA and Bishop John I. Cline have embarked on an immediate restructuring of the Hon Julian Fraser Save the Seed National Basketball League Committee and have called for both Commissioner Rajah A. Smith and Chairman Julian Willock to be relieved of their duties in their respective posts effective immediately.

The post of Assistant Commissioner held by Mr Byron J. ‘Chucky’ Hodge is “to be made redundant (cease to exist).”

In the interim, according to the statement, Mrs Kharid Fraser will act as Chairperson and Mr Derrick R. Varlack will act as Commissioner. They will hold the substantive post on the Committee of Deputy Chairperson-Mrs Fraser and Deputy Commissioner-Mr Varlack.

Willock & Smith to remain on Committee

“Both Mr Smith and Mr Willock will remain on the Committee while continuing to hold the titles of Commissioner and Chairman respectively, however, acting in different roles in a non-voting capacity. Mr Willock will also take on the assignment of Public Relations Officer and Mr Smith will be advisor to the League Committee and responsible for special events,” the statement continued.

It said that going forward, the By-Laws will be amended to reflect that; anyone who owns, manages, or coaches a basketball team cannot serve as the Chairperson, Deputy Chairperson, Commissioner or Deputy Commissioner of the League Committee, however, he/she may serve on the League Committee in some other capacity as a non-voting Member.

The By-laws will also be amended to reflect the changes to the Administrative Organisation.

“We thank Mr Byron J. Hodge whose post and role no longer exist on the League Committee for his service, his wise advice, and steady hand to the Hon Julian Fraser Save the Seed National Basketball League,” the statement concluded.

On September 27, 2015, in a statement issued to the media, the League Committee disclosed that all games in the League had been suspended until further notice.

However, the League dispatched an email to the media on October 7, 2015 in which it announced that play would resume this weekend and also provided the fixture for today and Saturday’s games.

“We are pleased to announce the resumption of games in the Hon Julian Fraser Save the Seed National Basketball League, beginning Friday 9th October, 2015. For now we will start with the Senior Division…”

Young Stars play Pure Playaz from 7pm and Warriors take on Starz from 8:30pm in this evening’s double header.

Both roger n jw needed 2 go long time. Conflict of interest in the league. Why they still on the committee they should be fine totally. I fell sorry for chucky they treat him bad. He should be the league commissioner and Derrick the assistant commissioner. The directors should reconsider my suggestion,

Frazer is one man with the courage to fire his friends when they are not performing. Takes a special kind a person to do that. Business is business. Work or go home. Stop by later for a drink. No hard feelings
