BDO & BVIFA schools football heats up

ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – With the knockout stages in the BDO Primary School and BVIFA High School Leagues fast approaching, schools upped the level of competition last week, seeking to progress to the finals.

In Under 12 games last Saturday, November 7, 2015, Pelican Gate won by forfeit over Willard Wheatley, First Impressions beat Cedar White 2-0, on a goal each from Justin Smith and Nathan Adams and St George's then beat Jost Van Dyke 7-0, with a pair of goals each from Michael Pallandino and Mohammed Shaheen.

Further goals came from Dylan Macthavious, K’Shawn Smith and Makori Davis.

On Monday November 9, Cedar Green U12’s were awarded a forfeit win over Enis Adams and in Group A, BFEC beat Robinson O Neal 4-2 with both Sheldon Toyley and T’Khoi Richardson scoring twice, whilst Lecoy and Cameron scored for Robinson O’Neal.

In Group B, the Seventh-day Adventist School beat Alexandrina Maduro Primary 1-0 on a lone strike by Dequan Powell.

Wins for SDA & St George’s

In BDO U9 action on Tuesday, SDA beat ASPS 3-0 on a brace of goals by Kevaun Glasgow and one from Andre Mundle. St George’s also beat Pelican Gate 4-0 with a hat trick from Jefferson Frank and one from Christan Vanterpool.

Cedar drew 2-2 with First Impressions, with Rush Broderick opening the scoring early for Cedar before Danny Henderson seemed to have secured all three points, doubling the advantage in the 20th minute. However, both Sakori Questelles and Orett Kennedy scored moments later to ensure a share of the spoils for FIPS.

In Under 9 Group C, St George’s overcame SDA 2-0 with Christian Vanterpool and Jefferson Frank netting for St George’s.

In the U7’s, Cedar Green beat Enid Scatliffe Maroon, with Joshua Tobin notching a hat trick and Alexandrina Maduro (2) fell to a 2-1 defeat by First Impression on a double strike by Blyden Aldridge after Shamoy Smith opened the scoring for AMPS in the first half.

In more Under 7 games and in Group B action, Montessori beat Enid Scatliffe Red thanks to a 5th minute penalty by James Tucker-Davies.

Meanwhile in Group C, Cedar Green had a 2-0 win over Alexandrina Maduro, with goals from Neven Josipovic and Joshua Tobin and in Group D, BFEC drew 0-0 with Althea Scatliffe, whilst Alexandrina Maduro beat SDA 1-0, courtesy of a third minute penalty by Jaheim Bijai.

Cedar White beat Enid Scatliffe Red 1-0 with Ethan Mohammed scoring the game's only goal in the third minute, also First Impressions had a 5-0 romp over Enid Maroon on a two goal salvo’s from Blyden Aldridge and Jordan Smith. Tre Lake rounded off the goal spree in the 17th minute.

Meanwhile, in BVIFA High School games and In the u15 Boys, ESHS ran out 6-0 winners against SDA, with Giovanni Grant, Marcus Butler, Norvial Gordon, Kimmario Walton, Eriko Bowlins and Chadwick Evans all finding the back of the net.

St George's beat Cedar School, 4-2. An own goal gave Cedar the lead against the run of play before Jose Lopez equalised with a 20 yard free kick. In the second half, substitute Michael Pallidino grabbed a quick fire hat trick to put the game beyond doubt, before Alex Slater scored a late consolation for Cedar via an own goal. 

In Girls Open action, ESHS lost 6-1 to BFEC with Keithreece Smith netting twice. Anya Stevens, Davian Williams, Jackisha Rigobert scored once and ESHS also conceded an own goal. Gabrielle Dawson scored the consolation goal for ESHS.
