DUFF’S BOTTON, Tortola, VI - The curtains came down on the Regular Season for the continuation of the Honourable Julian Fraser’s Save the Seed National Basketball League 2017/2018 games, played at the Save the Seed Energy Centre, on Tortola.

The final game was to a packed to capacity house on Sunday September 23, 2018, between two of the biggest and strongest teams in the League ‘Pure Playaz’ and the ‘Bayside Blazers.’

It was one the most anticipated games for the regular season, as fans, sports commentators and some teams, claimed, it could have been a preview for the Championship show down, but it is too early to tell who will come out from either the Western or Eastern divisions.

However, in the game of Sunday Bayside Blazers prevailed beating out the previously undefeated in regular season Pure Playaz.  

The final score was 91-78.

Bayside Blazers did it!

In that game Bayside Blazers’ Kimani T. Stevens netted 20 points, 10 rebounds and 2 steals with teammate Stephon S. Caul with 16 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assist.  Anthony J. Keane had 16 points and Mikey S. Joseph had 12 points.

For the defeated Pure Playaz top score went to Ray D. Victor with 28 points, 5 rebounds and 6 steals, while his teammate Ramain Minott netted 22 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assist. Garvin Frett walked away with 10 points and 6 rebounds.

While Bayside Blazers struggled to make a shot in the first 7 mins of the first quarter with at one point the score being 11 to 0 in favour of Pure Playaz, Team Bayside Blazers put on their game face in the second quarter and came back and ended up winning by some 13 points.

Action in Jr Division October 6, 2018

Meanwhile, the Junior Division playoffs will start on October 6, 2018 with the best out of 3 for the 4 teams that made the playoffs, which are Junior Bayside Blazers, Young Staz, Beast Mode, and High Speed.

The senior Division will kick off this Friday September 28, 2018 with 3 games for the best of 3 in the first round.

The Hon Julian Fraser Save the Seed basketball League was founded in 2013 by Third District Representative Hon Julian Fraser RA and Bishop John I Cline of the New Life Baptiste Church.  There has been four championship teams. In 2013 it was Ruff House, 2014 Bayside Blazers, 2015 West Gunners, 2016 Splash Brothers and the 2017/2018 Championship  Team will be crown by the end of October 2018. The championship teams are given Rings by the League.
