ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – The territory has two new sports entrepreneurs about to make their mark. The duo will be launching a 3v3 Basketball Tournament at the Multi-Purpose Sports Complex at the end of March, 2015.

Young Legs team mates Jason A. Edwin and Kennedy H. Bass have formed as ‘K and J’ to promote the short but action packed and excitement filled version of the game, 3-a-side basketball, starting with a two-day tournament involving Boys, Girls, all Age Groups and even the 40 Plus brigade.

“The International Basketball Federation (FIBA) is heavily pushing the 3v3 format across the world and here in the BVI it will be an excellent way to introduce kids to the sport at the lower levels and also keep the older players involved in the sport,” commented Edwin. He added “with a focus on fun, there will also be elements of discipline and life skills at the tournament and both Kennedy and I believe this will go a long way to promote a healthy well rounded lifestyle for the kids in the Territory.”

The organisers are approaching sponsors and have already gained sanctioning from the BVI Basketball Federation for the tournament, which is scheduled for March 28 and March 29, 2015.

Whilst the final formats will depend on the number of entries, the promoting pair hopes to include brackets for 9-12 year olds, 13-15, 16-18 and Open, for both males and females.

“We plan to ensure the event is a family orientated, fun filled weekend, with other  interactions for the kids, lots of prizes and of course fast paced 3v3 basketball,” noted Edwin.

Registration per team of four is now open, with a cost of $25 per player (which will include a “t-shirt) and interested parents, players or coaches can contact either Jason or Kennedy on 499 7989 / 540 4756. Alternatively, the pair can be reached by email at kennedyhbass@yahoo.com

“We hope this will be the first of what will become a biennial tournament,” concluded Edwin. “We want to make sure everyone has fun and looks forward to the next event. We want to promote healthy lifestyles and discipline and believe we are on the right track to build a brighter BVI.”

Stay tuned to all social media and, of course, this web site for further updates on what promises to be a fantastic spectacle of basketball.
