Barbados and China will be signing a Mutual Visa Abolition Agreement, the government of Barbados announced in a statement Friday.

The agreement will “pave the way for smooth entry of Chinese nationals who are holders of diploamtic and service (official) passports,” the government said.

The agreement will be officially signed on Tuesday, May 27, according to Foreign Affairs Minister Senator Maxine McClean, who was speaking at the Barbados Investment and Development Corporation’s Doing Business with China seminar in St Michael.

The signing follows a similar, if broader agreement signed by the governments of China and the Bahamas earlier this year.
