VALLEY, Virgin Gorda, VI- The young and exciting Ball Stars, under respected coach Vincent ‘Nabu’ Samuels, inflicted a severe thrashing on Police Panthers to advance in the Virgin Gorda Cup competition at the Virgin Gorda Recreation Ground on Sunday October 13, 2013.

Ball Stars made their intentions of winning the competition crystal clear when they outplayed and outpaced Police Panthers en route to a 6-nil victory.

The goal fest began in the 19th minute when left winger Reuben Stoby headed in from close range off a cross from Nigel Telemaque. Stoby had made amends after squandering an easy opportunity after just 5 minutes of play.

Four minutes later, Ball Stars were leading 2-nil when Trevor Ellis found the back of the nets to make up for missing a header following a neat cross from Stoby in the opening minutes of the game.

As expected, Ball Stars were full of running and Panthers could not contain the constant overlapping of Stoby who would make them pay in the 27th minute when he used his pace to tap in a ball that was directed across the face of the goal.

Midfielder Ogbonna Kelechy made it a fourth for Ball Stars when he sailed in a left footed shot from some 20 yards out in the 40th minute.

There was more pain for the Panthers as Ball Stars ruthlessly fired in 2 more;  Rondell Delfish in the 51st minute and Raul ‎Roberts in the 66th.

Earlier, One Love didn’t need to break a sweat to know they had advanced to the second round after East End failed to show.

The 2013 Virgin Gorda Cup is sponsored by the Virgin Gorda Yacht Harbour.
