ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – An interesting blend of the young talents and the mature was the highlight of Althea Scatliffe Primary School’s annual Christmas concert which was held last evening, Wednesday December 7, 2011 at the Sir Rupert Briercliffe Hall.

With red being the colour of choice for the students, the Senior Choir did an amazing job under the tutelage of Caave Stoutt to render beautiful versions of “Silent Night”, “All We Need Is Love”, “Fungi Medley”, “Jesus What A Wonderful Child” and “How Will Santa Get Here” featuring Quito Rhymer.

The school’s Quadrille Dance Group pranced on stage as they executed moves reminiscent of the “good old days”.

Their act was quickly followed by the Wind and Percussion Ensemble performing “Joy To the World” and “Three Kings.”

Making an impression was the Junior Choir who with zest sang “Caribbean Christmas”, “Get Ready” and “Oh Come All Ye Faithful” reggae style featuring Maccabee.

Parents also saw a performance by the ASPS Dance Group who was hilarious in their interpretation of “Here Comes Santa Claus”.

The New Life Baptiste Church Chimes Choir; the National Boys Choir; the ASPS’s Fungi Band featuring Elmore Stoutt, along with Donna Cline performed.

Additionally, during the course of the more than two hour concert several lucky raffle winners took home prizes.

It was long and well below its past standards. The kids looked great, the guests were different and great. That was nice. The decorations were so sad. They need to do better next year.
