NORTH SOUND, Virgin Gorda, VI – More developments were promised to the people of Virgin Gorda and other sister islands, following the handover and rededication ceremony for the newly refurbished North Sound Administration Building on Tuesday, February 9, 2021, in honour of Mr John E. George Sr MBE.

This commitment was made by Premier and Minister of Finance, Hon Andrew A. Fahie (R1) who said the sister islands will continue to see more projects being pushed forward under the RDA and his administration.

Speaking during the presentation ceremony, Hon Fahie said the project is one that was long in the making, and comes through funding from the CDB. He also noted the government will be returning to the Island soon to do more handover works as part of development efforts.

“When I leave from here we are going to do a tour of other areas the RDA is working on, the other Administration building in The Valley, the basketball court, we are going to check on the areas that [they] are working on,” he said.

VG continues to see development – Premier

Hon Fahie continued, “So anyone who says that Virgin Gorda is not getting anything, carry them to the eye specialist or admit them to the mental ward because it's impossible for people to say this, who could see,” he said.

The Premier also noted the government will not dictate who receive projects, rather projects will continue to be issued in a transparent and accountable manner where local contractors can submit bids and access construction work in a streamlined process.

“This is a government working for you and we are doing the same on Anegada and we are doing what we can in Tortola. As a matter of fact, we have limited resources and we [are] trying to do more with less and but we cannot do all and what needs to be done most, is what we are doing,” Hon Fahie affirmed.

If that was your remark, You should know we The People of The 9th District have been neglected for Years even under the Leadership of RT O'Neal and the VIP. Certain things that should be simply are not in Virgin Gorda, Sometimes we get but it's substandard, Lesser quality, done to a Very Low standard. So Get it right go back in the books and see that we deserve alot more than what you think we've been given in comparison to what we deserve or should have for the Top Island in the BVI.

Take care of your people who are in need of stimulus or we all going down. We can't make it with no tourists. Please don't leave us hanging. Offer more stimulus to tourist based businesses suffering still from the hurricanes. Not one good season since and now no income for almost a year. Subsidize essential needs so when things get better the entire BVI will thrive again.

Honestly! VG is on the move I must admit even being a NDP supporter. Over the last few months I’ve seen many projects begun and completed under the VIP Government with key support of the District Representative. Rome wasn’t built in a day; but more was done within 23 months than the time NDP was in power.

That is lame. How would you feel if the UK bosses gave all the jobs to UK contractors?

Could someone asked C***Y to asked her goons to keep out of other peoples house please! Can someone asked her to used the next episode of her show to talk about the drugs, guns and stealing from people houses and businesses? Those are real issues that’s affecting the community. She doesn’t need to wait until they intrude into her house before she asked them to stop!

Will I agree VG is getting it's fair share from the Government thus far, are these developments conducive to our needs and wants. I am hoping these developments will be used as needs by the current and future governments to serve the people of the 9th district. On another note, I am asking the Premier, the District Rep and the 4 Territorial Reps to please look into the reopening of Office for Flow/Lime/Cable & Wireless back on the islands especially for the seniors who don't have credit cards and are not computer savvy. The phone company should be present on the island even if they open 3 days a week. This is a need for our seniors.
