ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – As the East End/Long Look Festival Committee says goodbye to the Miss East End/Long Look pageant the BVI Festivals and Fairs Committee says welcome to yet another, ‘Miss Jr BVI”.

The new Pageant is yet another ‘1st’ for 60th Festival and will be seen as significant as it takes place at a time when the Territory and the BVI Festival and Fairs Committee (BVIF&FC) celebrate the Jubilee Festival of Emancipation this year 2014.

The pageant will see five young ladies taking to the stage at the Eileen Parson’s Auditorium of the H. Lavity Stoutt Community College on Sunday July 27, 2014. It starts promptly at 7:00pm.

The contestants are #1 Tichina Penn whose hobbies are reading, meeting people and relaxing. Contestant #2 Ronique McMillian has a passion for singing and traveling. Contestant #3 Shona Rogers shows interests in modeling, photography and reading. Contestant #4 Sylvanna Charles loves modeling, singing, dancing and acting. Contestant #5 Sheverne George hobbies are reading and charitable work.

Shona Rogers and Syvanna Charles are familiar faces having participated in previous pageants. Charles was the Miss Virgin Gorda Easter Festival 2013 while Ms Rogers was the 2nd runner up and Miss Congeniality at the first Miss Earth Pageant held in 2013.

As part of their preparatory process they young ladies have already been making a number of public appearances. Their most recent were at the Promotional and Interview segment at the Eileen Parsons Auditorium, H. Lavity Stoutt Community College (HLSCC) on July 19, 2014 and the Prince and Princess Contest held on Sunday July 20, 2014 at the Sir Rupert Briercliffe Hall.

For the two public appearances where the girls were given the opportunity to do some public speaking by introducing themselves it was obvious that both Ms Rogers and Ms Charles are in for some stiff competition. Their highly anticipated presentations come Sunday July 27, 2014 will prove all things, as their fate will be in they deliver themselves.

Advance tickets for this show cost $20 while it is $25 at the door. Children under the age of 12 years pay $10.

The BVIF&FC urges all to show full support for the young ladies as they take the journey of equipping themselves to become ambassadors for the Virgin Islands locally, regionally and internationally.

This is formerly known as Miss EE/LL...so it has always been around. THe name just change to better suit the territory. Don't like it though. Miss Emancipation or something so would be good as these are grown young ladies, not Jr.

I feel it should remain Ms. EE/LL because it is historical...the area in itself and should be represented. You all can be very boasty an rep where your area, just like your name 'EE gyal' ha!

Don't be a hater, this girl has cleaned up all the pageants she's ran in. This one wont be any surprise.

@ mal, Don't hate the truth. I don't care how many shows she has won thus far. It just shows the level of pageantry entered. The girl is just to darn big and manish looking to be a pageant queen of proper standard. Run for a talent show or big and bold or Large and in charge or something. These days there are pageant for every lady.

Its SAD how we label people these days because of size!!! Good Luck Sylvanna!! Keep trying your best... dont listen to the haters!!!!

I like the momentum Ms. Charles has positive to go in anything her heart desires, though very pretty, I think she is TOO BIG in size for all these shows and looks like an overgrown person compare to those who she runs aside with. If its the Bold and Beautiful, that will more suit.
