Another pageant! Miss Jr BVI puts 5 to the test
The new Pageant is yet another ‘1st’ for 60th Festival and will be seen as significant as it takes place at a time when the Territory and the BVI Festival and Fairs Committee (BVIF&FC) celebrate the Jubilee Festival of Emancipation this year 2014.
The pageant will see five young ladies taking to the stage at the Eileen Parson’s Auditorium of the H. Lavity Stoutt Community College on Sunday July 27, 2014. It starts promptly at 7:00pm.
The contestants are #1 Tichina Penn whose hobbies are reading, meeting people and relaxing. Contestant #2 Ronique McMillian has a passion for singing and traveling. Contestant #3 Shona Rogers shows interests in modeling, photography and reading. Contestant #4 Sylvanna Charles loves modeling, singing, dancing and acting. Contestant #5 Sheverne George hobbies are reading and charitable work.
Shona Rogers and Syvanna Charles are familiar faces having participated in previous pageants. Charles was the Miss Virgin Gorda Easter Festival 2013 while Ms Rogers was the 2nd runner up and Miss Congeniality at the first Miss Earth Pageant held in 2013.
As part of their preparatory process they young ladies have already been making a number of public appearances. Their most recent were at the Promotional and Interview segment at the Eileen Parsons Auditorium, H. Lavity Stoutt Community College (HLSCC) on July 19, 2014 and the Prince and Princess Contest held on Sunday July 20, 2014 at the Sir Rupert Briercliffe Hall.
For the two public appearances where the girls were given the opportunity to do some public speaking by introducing themselves it was obvious that both Ms Rogers and Ms Charles are in for some stiff competition. Their highly anticipated presentations come Sunday July 27, 2014 will prove all things, as their fate will be in they deliver themselves.
Advance tickets for this show cost $20 while it is $25 at the door. Children under the age of 12 years pay $10.
The BVIF&FC urges all to show full support for the young ladies as they take the journey of equipping themselves to become ambassadors for the Virgin Islands locally, regionally and internationally.
