Another good performance from Edwin as Golden Flashes beat Miami
The Golden Flashes held a 15-point advantage with 5:30 to play, but needed late free throws by Thomas and Hall to hold off the Red Hawks after that lead was cut to just two points late.
The victory moved KSU (11-5, 2-1) back into a tie for first place in the Mid-American Conference's East Division with Akron and Bowling Green.
Virgin Islander Edwin's eight-point night included a three-pointer and layup on back-to-back possessions to give the Flashes their largest lead at 62-47 with 5:30 to play.
But just as Miami used a 12-0 run to tie the game at 41-41 earlier in the half, the RedHawks battled back to within 66-64 after a three pointer by Eric Washington with 1:21 to play.
The Flashes closed out the victory by scoring all of their final 12 points from the foul line in the last 1:05.
Kent State won the rebounding battle 38-31 while Miami outscored the Flashes 30-24 in the paint and 21-12 off of 17 KSU turnovers.
According to the Golden Flashes Coach Rob Senderoff, Edwin has played terrific since being inserted into the starting lineup, averaging 8.8 points, 5.5 rebounds and 2.5 steals before the game against Miami.
