ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – The Department of Human Resources – Office of the Deputy Governor is reporting that for 2012 the amount for financial assistance for travelling between islands was reduced from $90,200 to $73,100 resulting in insufficient resources to provide assistance to public officers traveling between Sister Islands.
This is contained in the 2012 report of the Human Resources Department laid on the table of the House of Assembly on April 17, 2014.
It said that for the year under review, 56 persons were due a total of $92,037. The report said officers are paid $81 per day period.
“This subhead was reduced from $90,200 to $73,100 for 2012. With this decrease, the commuter allowance subhead is not sufficient to provide this assistance grant to all public officers commuting from the Sister Islands,” said the report.

Govenment pays $81.00 per week. The boat fare is 90 dollars. Do the math since you feel like we are complaining. We are grateful to government although they do not cover the entire cost. We a thankful
