ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – Long Look resident, Kevin Sprauve, who is accused of kidnapping a woman and allegedly attempting to murder her, was informed today, January 9, 2014 that his trial would proceed in the coming weeks.

Sprauve was charged with attempted murder, kidnapping and aggravated burglary for incidents which allegedly occurred on December 4, 2013.

After being previously represented by Attorney Marie Lou Creque, Sprauve told the court today that he intends to secure a new lawyer and had only become aware today that he was no longer represented by Mrs. Creque.

Meanwhile, Crown Counsel Leslie Ann Faulkner told the court that the prosecution would be ready to begin within three weeks and intends to call two witnesses, namely the Virtual Complainant (VC) and a police officer.

Magistrate Dr. Velon John set a reporting date of February 7, 2014 and said Sprauve is expected to retain counsel by that time to proceed with trial.

According to the allegations, the VC was asleep at her home in Sea Cows Bay on December 4, 2013 when Sprauve allegedly entered, placed an object at her throat and demanded money.

The defendant allegedly tied her hands and covered her face with a piece of cloth before removing her from the home in her vehicle.

While being transported, she reportedly managed to free herself and escaped from the moving vehicle. The defendant then allegedly tried to run over her, injuring her legs in the process.

A motorist who was passing at the time of the incident tried to render assistance, but he was allegedly threatened by the defendant.

The victim was reportedly found on the side of the road in Cox Heath, Sea Cows Bay at approximately 2 a.m. on the day of the incident.

Sprauve was later arrested and charged for the offence.

Glad he was caught because it seems he meant to take the poor woman somewhere and do her in. Thank goodness a passerby saw this. Glad there is one less nut off the streets.

He has a praying brother. I hope the brother is strong enough to make intercession on his behalf. He looks ill. I pray for all involved and I pray for his mother. I hope the outcome is well for everyone involved.

Well then, while you are praying, pray for the victim who will probably be traumatized for the rest of her life.
