WICKHAM'S CAY II, Tortola, VI – Outgoing students of the Alexandrina Maduro Primary School in Baughers Bay yesterday July 4, 2015 attended a graduation ball in their honour at The Moorings on Wickham's Cay II.

The boys and girls, all smartly dressed, began turning up in the evening for the specially planned and prepared event that was so exclusive that only the students and their chaperones were allowed.

Parents and even our reporter were invited to depart so that the students could have their time together for one last time before going off to different secondary schools.

PTA President Tamesha M. Smith explained the reason behind the event.

“It is an event that shows appreciation to our children. This is the last graduation and we thought that as a PTA we wanted to do something different so I came up with the idea that we could do a graduation ball where they can dress up and come and socialise for the last as some of them are actually going away for school and some are going to private school so they are not going to stay together after this,” said Smith.

“It is a fun children’s event where they dress up in cocktail attire and they play games and socialise with each other,” she said. The event reportedly came to a close at 10:00pm.

Just nice. To the organisers of this event thanks so much. I am certain the children had fun and above all to socialise for the time.

Some of these dresses look too adult for me. Others look very age appropriate. But congrats to you on your milestone. Best wishes as you go to secondary school.
