Alexa Brianna Hodge gets Ivan Dawson Memorial Scholarship
Alexa, a Class Six student at the Ivan Dawson Primary School, was the top student of the Class of 2016 and received trophies and awards, including the Ivan Dawson Memorial Scholarship for Top Student.
In her welcome address on June 28, 2016 Alexa gave thanks to God, her family, teachers and friends. She admonished her fellow classmates with the following words: “Class of 2016, as we transition into high school, let us not become relaxed and think that we have arrived, let us stay focused so that we can fulfill our dreams….don’t let anything or anyone be a distraction to deter us from being the best that we can be. Let us also be our brother’s keeper... let us vow to help one another to stay on track. To quote the words of Hon. Myron V Walwyn…. “We Together!”
If at any time you fall short in a test or class, don’t be discouraged…dust yourself off and try again. Remember, the only time you fail is if you quit. In this class of 21, there are no failures! We are future doctors, lawyers, sports professionals, teachers, singers, business men and women and Olympians. We are determined to make ourselves, our Parents, our Teachers, our family and other well-wishers proud. Let’s do it guys!”
Alexa is a twelve year old who enjoys baseball and riding bikes. Her career goal is to one day become a doctor. She is the daughter of Mr Lorenzo Hodge and Mrs Rexella Hodge of Luck Hill, Tortola, Virgin Islands.
We wish Alexa God’s blessings as she continues on the road of excellence.
