‎VALLEY, Virgin Gorda, VI - Earlier today January 17, 2015 Alamo BVI expanded its service of vehicle rentals to the sister island of Virgin Gorda.

"We want to establish a place where visitors that come to Virgin Gorda would have a place for rental but residents as well," said Ms ‎LaTicia E. Thompkins, Station Manager of Alamo BVI.

She told those present, including the owner of the company Mr Alan E. Parker, that the company is not known only for its great customer service but also its values.

"So we wanted to have a place where you can come and feel like you're home," she added.

The new flagship office of Alamo at Virgin Gorda ‎has been strategically placed in the compound of Virgin Gorda Yacht Harbour, in the bottom flat of building number 2 that houses the Cura Service Inc.

Declaring the office officially opened, Mr Parker expressed his gratitude to several persons of the Virgin Gorda community who had a part to play in the process of getting the office all set and ready for opening.

‎On the spot to give blessing was Mr Parker's mother who said that it was herself and husband in 1977 who first started the business on Tortola with just two cars. "So I am not retired, I am 74 but I am still kicking," she said to applause. "I am happy to see Alan has carried on the business."

She recalled how her son, Alan E. Parker, got involved. This spurred some laughter among the audience. She said that at an early age he was called upon to learn some aspects of the operations.

"Alan was going to school and one day he was going out of the office and I said Alan come let me show you how to fill out a reservation... and from the first day that I showed Alan, he skipped school, I didn't know that, to rent vehicles and when he would finish one he would go to school. So Alan was in the business from when we started."

The key person employed to run the office at Virgin Gorda is Ciara M. Christian, who is a resident of that community.

I don't see it working, long term, Mahogany have the imo the tourist crowd and Speedy's and L and S have the rest covered. Hertz and island style the other main competition are struggling as it is. Doing the same thing as the rest will reap the same results.

Now this tourist only thing. You learn real soon who mash up your car's and pay for it, and who don't. The locals destroy the cars with reckless driving. They don't deny renting, it's the $1000.00 deposit that run them AWAY.

    WELCOME ALAMO RENTAL

Well, they wouldn't be getting my business, or my friends' or family's business either. 3 solid BVIslander owned and operated businesses that have been running things for decades and I am going to support this set of imported labour? I don't think so.

From you can't employ BVIslanders, you wouldn't get my money.

The one who is there chatting crap about employing locals, the manager on Virgin Gorda and the one on Tortola are both manager.
