ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – The Little League Baseball season continued over the weekend on Saturday February 18, 2012 with the Yankees seeing off a determined Red Sox team 5-3 with no less than five players getting on the score sheet.

Recording their first win was a real team effort for the Yankees in the coached pitched game against the Reds as they battled back from Williams’ home run to take the honours.

Jamal Thomas had two hits for the Reds, but Jendaya Felix, Corin Bateman K'Lsha, K'Neisha Fahie and Aukievah Pollard all had a hit each and all scored a run for the Yankees.

In the “T” Ball game, the Pirates beat the Tigers 8-6 with multiple players each having one hit and scoring a run. Jomar Penn, Jalea Benjamin, Morgan Christopher, Jcoy Grant, Sheniah Freeman and Tre Williams all got on the scoreboard. In reply, the Pirates were led by Johnathan Mathews with two hits and two runs scored. K'jari Thomas also had two hits and scored two before Jahiem Springette added one hit and two runs scored.

To round off the day, the Mets beat the Cardinals 14-7.

Lucas Scatliffe was the player of the day with three hits, reaching first Base twice and second Base once as well as scoring two runs. Teammate Malachy Payne added a Home Run, two base hits and scored 3.

For the Cardinals, Jayque Hopkins had two hits and 2 runs scored. Mackimba Fahie had one hit and one run scored, Alfred James had one hit, scoring one and Shamori Robinson scored 2 runs.

In the previous weekend’s encounters, the “A’s” beat the Pirates 7-6 with Christian Vanterpool for the Pirates having a Home Run and 3 RBI. Kimoni Bobb also scored a Homer and added two RBI. Rasheem Smith for the A scored a Home Run with one RBI and Delano Hodge had two Home Runs and two RBI.

In another coached pitched game, the Rays were leading the Yankees 11-7 when rain postponed the game. Lawton Green for the Rays went 2 for 2 with 2 RBI. David Persuard went 2 for 2 with 1RBI and so did Bradford Green.

Jendaya Felix went 2 for 2; Vanessa Wharton went 2 for 2 with 2RBI's.

The Mets had no such luck with the weather as they went down 14-7 to the Cardinals.

David Mathews went 2 for 3 and had 2 runs scored and Malachy Payne went 2 for 3. Shamori Robinson from the Cardinals went 3 for 4 with 1HR and scored 3 runs while Jekoi Liburd went 3 for 4 and Hose Miguel went 2 for 4 and scored 3 runs.
