8-year-old dies from brain disorder
According to reports reaching Virgin Islands News Online, Sikhoy Hodge-Callwood’s condition recently turned for the worse and he passed away sometime after midnight at Peebles Hospital.
Cerebral Palsy is considered a neurological disorder caused by a non-progressive brain injury or malformation that occurs while the child’s brain is under development. Cerebral Palsy primarily affects body movement and muscle coordination.
According to reports, Sikhoy suffered a stroke last year that rendered him immobile. His condition, however, reportedly dramatically turned for the worst yesterday and the child was not responding to treatment.
“Gone too soon but will always be with me. R.I.P my little man aka Khoy Tata papa love mommy,” a Facebook post by Sikhoy’s mother Idalia Hodge stated today, July 12, 2016.
Sympathies pour in
The Facebook post has been met with many words of condolences.
Simone Chantelle said: “Oh my! Darling, I am so sorry for your loss! May God's Peace, Comfort and Strength be with you all at this time of grief. **Tight Huggz**.”
Tina Lowry-Rawlins wrote: “Aunty love baby. RIP my love. I was trying sooooo hard to get you out of there that new this morning crush me so bad no one will ever know can't stop crying but you in a better place baby sleep on it not good bye.”
Akescia Thomas-McLean said: “ May God give you peace. No parent should have to go through this.”
Petrona Davies wrote: Our prayers are with you and your family Dede. Sikhoy was one of the most loving and endearing persons I've ever known. His struggles are over. May his soul rest in eternal peace.”
Abundant Rayne Tuitt Lord Dede said: “I feel that one... Sorry to hear my Lil partner gone. My condolences to your entire family and may God give you strength to get through this ordeal. R. I. P. C'Khoy. May your memories live on.”
According to reports, the mother has been devastated that she was unable to raise the monies required to take her son overseas for treatment. It is not clear if Government was approached for assistance and how much money she had actually managed to raise.
Efforts to reach Ms Idalia Hodge proved futile at the time of publication.

To all the family I am sorry to have heard this, continue to be strong.
I'M SURE THE CHILD'S MOTHER WOULD BE GRATEFUL, BUT UNFORTUNATELY HE DIDN'T SO STOP TALKING CRAP.
SHE TRY DESPERATELY ON HER OWN WITHOUT YOUR INVISIBLE FRIEND HELP.
Sorry for the loss of the little boy, this is so sad and i hope the mother can remain strong in these most difficult times.
On another note heartfelt sympathy to the family of the little boy. Angel in heaven.
And we have big dinner and lunches and fancy wine tasting all over spending thousands collectively.
We are a society with "tons" of nonprofit organization and yet this child did not have that chance of better health care.
Shame on us as human beings.
I remember just the other day a man had an accident in Virgin Gorda. It was posted on community board for financial aid. I must say that particular community responded well.
My condolence to the mother and may the soul of this little one rest in eternal peace
I will not make other comments cause I don't know the details.
I'm thinking of not only the child's family but also his little friends at school and teachers as well.
People need to refrain from this
