70-year-old man killed by vehicle on St Croix bypass

CHRISTIANSTED, St Croix, USVI- A 70-year-old man succumbed to injuries sustained during a car accident on the Bypass Saturday night, January 4, 2020, [US] Virgin Islands Police Department (VIPD) Public Information Officer Toby Derima has announced.

According to police, on Saturday, at approximately 6:15 pm, a vehicle traveling west on the Christiansted Bypass in the vicinity of Peter's Farm Condominiums, St Croix, US Virgin Islands (USVI) struck a pedestrian who was crossing the roadway.

The pedestrian, a caucasian male, was transported to the Juan Luis Hospital and Medical Center by ambulance, and later succumbed to the injuries sustained during the accident.

The victim's identity was being withheld pending notification of next of kin, according to police.

This incident is under investigation by the VIPD's Traffic Investigation Bureau.
