ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI - Five years have been taken off the sentence period for Courtney Meade and Ramon George who were sentenced to 20 years imprisonment in July for their part in the break-in of the Road Town Police Station in November 2010.
The sentence was reduced in the Court of Appeal today October 2, 2012 following an appeal by the duo’s lawyer Mr. Patrick Thompson, who contended that the sentence handed down by High Court Judge, Justice Albert Redhead was excessive.

The appeal was heard by Justices Louise Blendman, Don Mitchell, QC and Davidson Baptiste,

The young men, who were in their early 20’s when the crime was committed, pleaded guilty in the High Court on May 8 to aggravated burglary and carrying an unlicensed firearm.

    Unbelievable!

Is there a statute of limitations for assault of a police officer during the commission of a crime? If not, I say they should be charged and tried. Add another 5 years (or more) to their sentence and be sure they run consecutively and not concurrently.

    Man!

Why you don't hush!!! A 20yr sentence for aggravated burglary is excessive and needed to be reduced. Ya'll want all kind of harsh sentences for wrong doers but just like Redhead yall don't seem to understand there is a sentence limit for EVERY charge and Redhead exceeded that limit given that they plead guilty, are first time offenders and are very young. Understand the law before you post crap. Ignorant ass!!

These people are sending mix messages to the criminals and the public. If these losers were bold enough to assault the police and break into the station they deserve the 20 years handed down. Some of these lawyers are bottom crawling scum suckers. Does anyone know the difference between them and a cat fish? Money is beast around here. Hmmm.
