ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – When she appeared in the Magistrate's Court on Friday June 24, 2016, Jessica George was given the option of walking on the other side of the road whenever she sees the Virtual Complainant (VC) in her matter or otherwise be sent to jail.

George’s matter had to do with her allegedly slapping a female police officer, biting, slapping and pulling the hair of another woman – Leonita Todman- and using threatening language.

George is a belonger of the Virgin Islands (British), mother of two children, unemployed and lives with her parents at Botanic Station, Road Town, Tortola.

It is alleged that on August 24, 2015 the accused was having a conversation with the VC in the vicinity of Flemming Street when the VC told her that she thought the defendant should not be having another baby because of her financial status. Being told this, the Defendant became enraged, grabbed the VC by her hair and repeatedly struck her in the face.

The court heard that someone stepped in and separated the two and it was at that time George allegedly used threatening language to Todman, telling her she would kill her. Todman was led to make a report at the Road Town Police Station.

George was later met by police officers and when told of the accusations against her, she alleged became further enraged and started to behave in a disorderly manner.

She was taken to the Road Town Police Station where she continued her conduct. At the station, George allegedly made use of threatening language to a police officer saying, “I go kill you, I no afraid of you police.” She then pushed and slapped another police officer and another officer had to step in to help restrain George.

She was then restrained, arrested and charged and released on station bail.

After pleading not guilty to the charges, the woman was placed on $35,000 bail with one surety and was cautioned not to have any contact with the VC or any of the witnesses in the matter.

She then told Senior Magistrate Tamia N. Richards, in an obvious angry tone of voice, that she didn't think she should have to cross to the other side of the road if she sees the VC coming in the same direction of her because she usually has her babies with her and it would be unfair to her.

She then claimed that she had to hit the VC because she "troubled" her.

At that point, Senior Magistrate Richards told her, “If you can’t behave yourself past those black gates (gates at the Magistrate’s court), you can go prison now.”

George then promised to behave.

She should have been slapping her all now. Who is she to tell her how many babies to have. That is not her business. Somebody got her pregnant so that should be between her and that man.

She should be slapping the vc all now it is not her business to tell someone how many children they should have. The nerve of some people.

Sometimes u just need to leave ppl to their own demise. If u see someone in a situation that's bringing them harm, putting strain on them be it financially, physically or emotionally & u show concern & they lash out at u leave them in their own hot water. The VC only saw someone in a position where she bringing another mouth to feed & possibly struggling & gave her a bit of advise. Why lash out? U have 2 pickney, no job, still home under your parents rather than in your own place SMH.

See, the reason these people put their hands on the police here is because the police don't carry guns. If the police was carrying, people would think twice. You go anywhere in the US and you put your hands on the police, you are going to have a couple of broken bones or worse.

Who made the vc God. If you are not of help to a situation and it isn't your business you need to keep out to take what you get. Be of help not an annoyance.
