The vehicle in the middle is a left hand drive. So what’s your point

Once they change the driving mode from the left to the right, then i support you. If they don't, it is simply a matter of safety for right hand drive vehicles to be on the road. The majority of the BVI vehicle population, was once right hand and only simply change to left hand because of the amount of time it took for parts to get here from the Europe.

We don’t need any study. It is just plain stupidity and lack of common sense on the part of most of these drivers in the BVI. Sometimes I often wonder if these people bought their licenses.

It is obvious that taxi stopped causing the obstruction. Clearly, the person switching lanes was not vigilant, but something needs to be done with these taxi men!

      I did an investigation.
We need to retire the old, deaf and blind taxi drivers. They stop on the highway as if it was a car park.
NO STOPPING TO PICK UP OR SET DOWN ON THE HIGHWAY.

Based on the picture it is quite obvious that the driver of the middle vehicle is at fault in the collision. For the purpose of unloading or loading a motor vehicle, the driver of such vehicle can stop along the road way which is not controlled by an erected sign prohibiting the stop" All that is required is that it is done as safely ( taking into consideration the presence of other vehicles travelling behind it ) and quickly ( to prevent the unnecessary obstruction of traffic ) as possible. An important thing to check here is whether or not he made any indication that he was about to stop by slowing down, (giving time to for the vehicle behind him to stop) use a hand sign where necessary. A check should be made of his brake lights to see if they were in working order. The driver of the middle vehicle, should ensure that he is travelling at a safe distance and at the requisite speed limit, behind the vehicle in front it. If these warning were given, he should have first stopped, indicate to turn right, check his mirror (right rear) to ensure that no other vehicle is in the lane he is about to turn into blow his horn then proceed. He could have easily waited for the Taxi to move off then continue on his way. I could almost hear him explaining that the bus stopped suddenly and he tried to avoid colliding into it by pulling to the right. This not an excuse. Again, had he been travelling at the correct speed at the right distance, paying due care to the vehicle in font it (unless there are other factors in the incident that is not known) he could be the one who caused the collision even if the others contributed to it.

So what's next banning these shuttle bus that do taxi any and every where . If a person is not at a designated pickup point don't stop and all these accident that's cause by taxi would stop if the people see you not stopping they will get the message . Taxi drivers I know it's your living but be considerate to the other drivers using the road .

the difference between this accident and a scooter accident is that we aren't picking anyone up of the floor... everyone in that accident going home today to lie in a bed and not in a freezer .......

      Question for lol:

When the government bans taxi drivers, how will the people who don't drive get from home to work and vice versa, how will the tourist get from the airport /ferries to their hotels /guest houses and how will the taxi drivers pay the mortgage for their homes?

The main issue stopping the traffic flowing efficiently is taxis and cars stopping in the middle of the road. As soon as the traffic is backed up accidents will happen and traffic jams.

Add to this people crossing in areas where there are no crosswalks.

For the individuals responding to the Island People comments, you are wasting your time. Don't you see that the news sites are condoning such discriminatory behavior? But becareful telling them that.... It is called freedom of speech and you will be in the wrong. Leave all of those guilty to God's wrath.

Everyone knows Taxi's must stop to pick up and let out passengers, so we all watch out for that. That car in the middle had to be tailgating, driving too fast to stop and not watching out for the taxi stopping. I say the one on the middle caused all of this, even if the taxi stopped. As a driver you have to be aware of your surroundings at all times. Case closed!
