FREDERIKSTED, St Croix, USVI— Three women who kidnapped, assaulted and robbed a female victim on Monday night, February 20, 2017 on St Croix, US Virgin Islands (USVI) were arrested and jailed for their alleged crimes, [US] Virgin Islands Police Department (VIPD) Public Information Officer Glen Dratte announced via press release on February 21, 2017.

According to Mr Dratte, the 911 emergency call center reported that a 22-year-old female victim had been abducted and robbed by three females, one who was ostensibly a friend of the victim.

The victim told 911 that her friend, 34-year-old Tiffany Mendez, came to her house with another female named Lesha Smith, 35, demanding that the victim go with them. When the victim refused, her friend, Ms Mendez, drew a gun and forced the victim into a vehicle, according to Mr Dratte.

Another female who was waiting in the car, 30-year-old Ebony Hercules, punched the victim while in the backseat as the three suspects drove with the victim to the Lagoon entrance in Gallows Bay, where they robbed the victim of $40 and also stole her identification.

Hours later at about 3:00 AM on Tuesday, police arrested all three suspects and charged them with kidnapping and robbery, according to Mr Dratte. They were all remanded to the Bureau of Corrections pending their advise-of-rights hearing.
