26 new COVID-19 cases reported in USVI

FREDERIKSTED, St Croix, USVI- Coronavirus infections continue to rise in the US Virgin Islands (USVI), with the [US] Virgin Islands Department of Health reporting 26 new cases Tuesday night, July 14, 2020 — 16 on St Croix, 8 on St Thomas and 2 in St John.

According to DOH's latest infographic, St Thomas has 117 test results pending, followed by St Croix with 81, and St John with 1 pending case for a total of 199 territory-wide.

Total confirmed cases stood at 243 as of Tuesday night, with 125 active cases — 95 on St Croix, 25 on St Thomas and 5 in St John. So far 112 individuals have recovered, DOH said.

Territory-wide 5,079 tests have been performed, with 4,637 returning negative.

DOH said 1 case on St Croix was transmitted through community spread, two through close contact, one through travel and 12 were under investigation.

All 8 St Thomas cases were under investigation as of Tuesday evening, and the latest two cases in St John being transmitted via community spread.

    now is the time to close the trips to st.thomas again.
