CARROT BAY, Tortola, VI- While all other sporting events were cancelled for the weekend due to Hurricane Jerry, the Ceres 10K Series persisted on Tortola, with the Carrot Bay leg on Saturday, September 21, 2019.

Some 26 athletes took on the hilly but scenic course from the Carrot Bay Festival Ground to Smugglers Cove and return.

Neil Riley dueled with Julius Farley for close to 5 miles before Farley surrendered on the return climb on Long Bay and allowed Riley to gain an advantage he would never give up.

Riley clocked 44:56 while Farley followed in 46:13.

Dereck Rawlins (48:01) won the battle for third place with Reuben Stoby (48:24) while Joseph McIvor took fifth in 51:26.

800m specialist Katrina Lindsay continued her good form at the longer distances, placing first for females in a time of 48:30. Lindsay finished 5th overall.

Caroline Sorrentino also ran a strong race, clocking 53:09 for second place.

Rosmond Johnson was third in 58:21.

The lone walker was Sophie Bennett (1:45.00).
